About
You probably send work to AI throughout the day. Summarize this PDF. Pull the dates and amounts out of these invoices. Clean up this email. Tag these 200 files.
A growing amount of that work can now happen directly on your own computer.
A local model is an AI model you download and run on your laptop. Once it’s there, it works without the internet, costs nothing each time you use it, and your files can stay on your machine.
In this session, I’ll get a local model running on an ordinary laptop with Ollama and LM Studio, then put it through six jobs from a normal workday.
You’ll see what it can handle, where it struggles, which models fit machines with 16GB to 32GB of memory, and the settings that matter.
You’ll leave knowing which jobs belong on your laptop and how to put a local model to work.
This is for you if:
- You already use cloud AI and want to know which everyday jobs you could run locally.
- You work with files or information you’d rather keep on your own computer.
- You’ve heard about local models and want to see what they can actually do before setting one up.
What you'll get:
- Access to the live session.
- My local-or-cloud list for deciding which jobs are worth running on your laptop.
- The models that fit 16GB to 32GB machines and the settings that matter.
New to local models? Local Models 101 covers the basics, but you don’t need to watch it before joining this session.
See you Friday.
